DVD/Video/Movie rentals have become a highly endangered species of business in North America, and there's not too many left in Toronto. Some which remain that are good include:
1. Queen Video
Good selection of DVDs and Blue Ray. New and up to date.
2. 2Q Video
Good documentary selection in addition to new DVDS. TV show selection is also strong.
3. Suspect Video
Connected to the Honest Ed's building on Markham Street, this store has a lot of good new DVDs as well as cult classics.
And if you have a Toronto Public Library card, the library is a great place to take out DVDs for free. And you can reserve them too.
